The cost of a Puppymill Rescue dog:
The purpose of this page is to educate people on the cost to rehab a Retired Puppymill Production Line worker. This does not take into account my Time. I spend lots of time washing peepads , towels and blankets. Lots of time cooking and bargain shopping. More time potty training, bathing, toenail cutting , brushing and grooming. Comforting them from the nightmares that they have, holding them so they learn not all people are mean and nasty. Teaching them what grass is, leash training.
Teaching them that we always have food and there will always be enough for everyone so they do not have to save it for later. Food is a big expense as all puppymill dogs are malnourished. We feed home cooked and raw here. A 20 pound dog eats 12.8 ounces of food per day. This is calculated by taking 4% of their optimal adult body weight.
